The Allure Group celebrates Human Rights Day

(December 11, 2014) Brooklyn, New York – Yesterday, The Allure Group commemorated Human Rights Day. This day was specially established to recognize all human rights activists and to help promote human rights worldwide. December 10th was chosen as the official Humans Right Day because of the significant role this date has played in human rights history. On December 10, 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights doctrine was adopted by the United Nations. This international cooperative recognition of the necessity of uniform doctrine to protect human rights has laid the groundwork for later activists to successfully advocate for better human right laws both domestically and internationally.

The ceremonial establishment of Human Rights Day occurred on 4 December 1950, at the 317th Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly, when the General Assembly declared Human Rights Day as an international holiday. The day is normally commemorated with political conferences and meetings and other events about human rights issues. Furthermore, on this holiday, United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights and Nobel Peace Prize are awarded. Many governmental and civilian organizations active in human rights awareness schedule lectures and exhibitions to celebrate the day.

“The Human Rights issue is an important concern that effects every human being. We applaud all those who make it their life’s mission to advocate and fight for human rights not only in the United States but internationally as well,” says Melissa Guglielmo, Chief Operating Officer at The Allure Group.

The Allure Group Proudly Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness

The Allure Group is proud to promote Breast Cancer Awareness this October. The Allure Group recognizes that breast cancer can sometimes escape the public’s notice. It is important that the all Americans are educated about the causes, progression, symptoms, and research associated with breast cancer.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an opportune time to raise awareness about the significance of detecting of breast cancer in its early stages. There are many community committees, private and federal organizations that are involved in spreading information about the severity of breast cancer and effective measures one can take to identify the cancer early. Even with availability of information and resources, many people fail to take the necessary measures to protect themselves. It is essential that family and friends encourage their loved ones to learn more about mammograms and self- exams. It is important that women over 40 years old discuss with their doctors the pros and cons of mammograms and what they can do screen for possible malignant tumors.

“Here at the Allure Group, we encourage everyone to take the possibility of breast cancer seriously. Talk to your mother, sister, or friend about the importance of early breast cancer detection. With your encouragement and support, a possible terrifying disease can be detected in its early stages,” says Melissa Guglielmo, Chief Operating Officer at The Allure Group.

Why Sleep is Especially Important for Senior Citizens | The Allure Group

No matter how old you are it has been proven that a good night’s sleep is an essential aspect of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. For senior citizens especially, getting a good night’s sleep is crucial to one’s physical and emotional health and stability, for several reasons.

Senior citizens who get a good night’s sleep, on a regular basis, are more focused, have better memory formation, and less overall memory related problems. The reason for this is because while sleeping, one’s body is able to repair any cell damage which happened that day. Sleep also helps improve one’s immune system to help prevent diseases.

Additionally, senior citizens who get a good night’s sleep, are less likely to suffer from depression, and are less tired over the course of the day. While sleeping well, senior citizens also tend to experience fewer nighttime falls, are less sensitive to pain, use fewer prescription or over the counter sleep medications, and are less likely to suffer from life threatening diseases such as cardiovascular diseases. In fact, women are even less likely to suffer from breast cancer.

For these reasons, The Allure Group takes sleeping well at night very seriously. The care center trains its staff to take special precautions during night time hours to keep noise to an absolute minimum. Who knew getting a good night’s sleep could have such tremendous advantages for senior citizens!
